She wants to show how much she is obsessed with her dreams and wants to get rid of her family to fulfill her dream. She had a younger sister, Nanny, few neighborhood friends like Rachel and Lucy.

Also, she talks about the time spent with her siblings and friends. She used to write about difficult experiences in life. As the story moves, the character becomes more mature, and she had a different world around her. She had a different perspective about life. She feels attraction for males; here starts another part of her life when she has a friend named Sally. Sally's father was a very religious person, and he did not allow her to go out of home most of the time. But somehow, she managed to meet her daily. But she got broken when Sally left her for a boy.

Also, she was raped by a group of men in the street, This a traumatic day in her life. She decided to start a job in a store. But, when she attends her 1st day in the office, she feels uncomfortable as an older man harassed her. But, on the very next day, that older man kissed her on the lips. So, she got disappointed and realized to leave the mango street for betterment in her life. She moved from mango street to another city and started her career as a writer. So, she decided to come back and uplift people facing the same circumstances.
